Archive for short curly hairstyles

Could it work? By short I mean a few inches below the earlobe? Preferably for a teen (13-18ish)? If you have any sites, please post. Thanks!

I just got my hair cut to just below my chin, about halfway down my neck.
i absolutely love it, and have been using garnier curl scrunch gel to make it extra curly.
i dont have a lot of time to style it in the morning, and i dont like to straighten it.
any suggestions for a couple of cute hairtsyles?

You’re doing OK so far.

I don’t think you should straighten it, if you want to continue having healthy hair. The product you’re using is OK, too!

Scrunching gel to your hair is the fastest, easiest, healthiest way to go.

You can also invest on butterfly clips in various sizes and colors and experiment on funky, wild, elegant, styles. Get inspired by looking at PROM or HAIRSTYLES magazines. I can do 7 styles in a week, it’s never the same in less than 5 mins on my very long hair and I’m good to go.

I’m sure you have have fun playing with clips, and you’ll never get bored again.

I’m 17 and have wavy/curly hair. I keep it as a shagg, but I need a change. I’ve been trying to find some good looking hairstyles for men with my type of hair but haven’t had so much luck. I want it short, but not buzz short. Do you know if there’s a good website where I can find what style I’m looking for?

I am not sure exactly how wavy/curly your hair is, but any of the following styles can usually be designed to fully suit almost any 17 year old guy’s head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features. Curly wavy hair can often add interesting texture to these short to medium styles. As for websites, maybe try the curly hair, short and medium galleries at the haircutsformen site.

Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side, if so desired. An ivy league can also be worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form the short pomp front, or with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut.

Essential barbering knowledge:

Grooming any of the short pomp(pompadour) styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.
1) Towel dry hair.
2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.
3)Transfer wax to palms.
4) Smooth palms over hair.
5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.
Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber or stylist. If you need more photos of any of the styles discussed above, let me know.
Good Luck!

i have naturally curly hair–really thick, frizzy, poofy, and damaged…right now it is about medium length…i also swim a lot which makes my hair dry and frizzy. i would like to keep my hair curly, but i need a good haircut so it is easy to manage but still looks good! also, will cutting my hair into layers make it look worse? links to pictures and advice would be great! thanks! =]

curly hair should allllways be parted on the side, also you should never brush it when it is dry (or wet really) with an actual hair brush. ideally you should use comb because it will define the curls aswel as brushing your hair instead or straightening them out and making them frizzier. do not brush curly hair when it’s dry especially if it’s really thick, it will be a nightmare!

if your hair is really think, then go to a hairdresser and ask them to thin it out. they will use a special pair of scissors which have a blade that cuts the hairs randomly thinning them out and getting rid of poofyness.

people with curly hair shouldnt really have a fringe (bangs) unless youre prepared to straighten it everyday.
the best thing to do would be to get your hair in a shorter style, thinned out and layered slightly in a side parting. maybe a longish side fringe. use a product that helps define the curls also. if your hair is in really bad condition then you probably really need a cut.
if you swim you can wear a swimming hat, or wash your hair with anti-chlorine shampoos.
hope this helps x

All my life I’ve had dirty blonde, curly, medium length hair. I recently got it cut and my hair now just barely touches my shoulders. I had to get it cut because of damage from straightening it, so that is not an option as a hairstyle.

I’m looking for really cute hairstyles that I CAN do. I have no idea what to do with it, I’ve never had it this short! Searching on Google wasn’t really helpful, so I was hoping this would be.

So please please please send me ideas and pictures of workable hair do’s and updo’s!

Thank You :)

These are the types of haircuts I was thinking of getting:

Basically, which do you think is the cutest and would also look cute if I straightened it?
Heres what I look like: http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm10/abbyloathesyou/What Abby Looks Like/
I like the haircut I have now (the first three pics), but I’m sick of it. (It’s gotten boring to me. I really want to change it up and get something daring, edgy, yet cute.
Should I cut or not? Which one of the five do you like most?
Thanks so much!

Sorry the link of what I look like didn’t work. =/

I have very curly hair and a lot of experience with this area. First, find somebody who really knows how to cut curly hair – it’s not the same as straight. Any stylist trained in the Deva method of cutting will give you a better cut if you are curly.

The first cut was the one I liked best. The one with short bangs will be a nightmare to style – the short bangs will shrink up to nothing during the day and look awful. The fourth style was done on rollers – is not a naturally curly cut and the other styles will also take a lot of styling to maintain.

Check out the book Curly Girl – lots of good suggestions for maintaining curly hair – BUT – don’t pay too much attention or get hung up on the styles in the pictures – they are sort of dated. But, I use a lot of their techniques (including the no shampoo recommendation) and my hair does not look like those styles. But the ideas for washing, cutting and products are really useful and have changed everything for maintaining my hair. Also check out Deva products.

Straightening damaged my curly hair badly over time and is difficult to maintain. If you iron, you will spend a lot of time every day on it and damage it; if you chemically straighten, it will grow out curly at the roots and look strange. The best thing I ever did was go back to curly and learn how to care for it.

I have long curly/frizz hair but i hate it long. i want it short, but i’m worried that i will explain it wrong to my hairdresser and she will make it an afro or something. anyone have any tips?

i had the same problem i have thick curly and very frizzy hair so i told my hairdresser to cut my hair like jennifer from "sugarland" the video clip called all i want to do and she did it to me and i love it !
it says " im fun and happy with my fresh curly hair"!!

and then add to it pantene oil replacement cream or any other styling cream and you rock girl!
